James Rhem
Anne Brigman's Songs: Her Life, Her Photographs, Her Poems is a critical biography that explores the life and work of early twentieth-century photographer and poet Anne Brigman, focusing on her groundbreaking feminist art, her connection to the Pictorialist movement, and her unique vision of embodying the human figure within nature. This is the first study of Brigman that examines her sexuality and its influence on her images and her poems. The publication also offers a reprint of Brigman’s book Songs of a Pagan as well as her previously unpublished companion volume Wild Flute Songs. James Rhem is an independent scholar in the history of photography.
