Philip Perkis’s now classic Teaching Photography, Notes Assembled has been published this spring by Dalpine, Madrid— in Spanish. With the publication of this text, we seek to bring Perkis’s work closer to readers and confirm his contribution to photographic pedagogy. The sharp and perceptive observations in Teaching Photography, Notes Assembled seek to stimulate and inspire. Through them, Perkis defends photography as an autonomous form of artistic expression and raises questions that invite reflection, open debate, and encourage teachers and photographers to take risks. The new Spanish edition will be available, hopefully soon, from a bookseller in the US.
Teaching Photography, Notes Assembled, written in 2000 and first published by OB Press, Rochester, in 2001, is currently available in English at RIT Press.
